This is my attempt at poetry, although I was aided by others here and there....

THE SPARROW

THE TRUMPET

A sparrow flew on my window sill

While I was laying in bed

It filled the room with it's happy song

And also filled my head

It flew upon the table

And then onto the bed

I reached out my hand, when it flew there

I squashed it's bl**dy head.

I wish I could play the trumpet

But I'll just eat a crumpet

I'm going to have to lump it

But I wish I could play the trumpet.

ODE TO A CEDAR TREE

O cedar tree, O cedar tree, I see you gently sway

I'd like to go and visit you but I don't go home that way.

O cedar tree, O cedar tree, you branches spread out wide

If only I could hollow you out, and climb right up inside.

O cedar tree, O cedar tree, you've grown from Jacob's staff

I've sat beneath your branches and had a jolly good laugh.

O cedar tree, O cedar tree, I admire you from afar

I drove round to see you but you went and hit my car.

O cedar tree, O cedar tree you gave me such a thrill

I think my girlfriend's pregnant, she forgot to take her pill.

O cedar tree, O cedar tree they kept you in the dark

They've cut you down and sawed you up and laid down a car-park.

O cedar tree, O cedar tree you are alas no more

But rest assured, I think of you, I've made you my front door.
